Vintage David Frykman Figure ’Sitting Santa’ Retired Shelf Sitter by Coynes & Co

This Santa Shelf Sitter is sitting in front of a Christmas tree and surrounded by presents. He is the creation of David Frykman and is numbered DF 1016 . . . in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs . . . In the original box, box has some trauma – as pictured.

Artist David Frykman, Door County, Wisconsin, spent 10 years as a potter, but an ice carving contest convinced him to convert to a more rigid medium—wood. As a woodcarver, David searched for “what’s inside the wood—the life within waiting to be released.” The whimsical face that has become his trademark is said to really be his own caricature. He made a line of reproduction carvings called “The David Frykman Portfolio.” He would carve the figures in wood and then Studio G made master molds directly from David’s original whimsical creations, casting them in the highest quality resin available.
